Tour Of Duty, Brisbane
Innerpulse is proud of every event that we host or contribute to, but one of our proudest achievements have been hosting the Tour of Duty Fun Run. We helped to organise and manage the Tour of Duty held in April 2015 in Brisbane. The Tour of Duty run itself was designed to recognise and commemorate the contribution of the first responders – the fire, ambulance, police and SES personnel for over a decade following the events of September 11, 2001.
Innerpulse managed the event for Brisbane, taking care of every aspect including managing stakeholders of the city council, police and traffic, operating the start and finish lines, managing the Brisbane city course, recruiting and support to volunteers and supporting organisations, debriefing stakeholders about the event, and putting it together for post event debrief report to not only reflect on the event but to improve and grow for future years to come.
Overview of the Event
The Tour of Duty fun run was open to everyone who wants to get involved, but the key participants are the first responders and members of the military and their families. There are two courses set along the path of the Brisbane River. One of the courses was 5.5km long, while the other was 11.4km long. The 2015 event saw 427 people register for the short course and 593 people register for the long course; a total of 1020 people.
As well as organising the fun run itself, Innerpulse took care of organising the activities at the finish line to celebrate those who undertook the challenge and those who came to enjoy a day out. We arranged a community environment at the area where the finish line was including a BBQ, the Army Band, food and coffee stalls and face painting and a bouncy castle for the kids. Everyone who ran in the fun run received their own commemorative ANZAC medallion and an event t-shirt.
Fund raising money went to the charity Mates4Mates, an organisation that takes care of wounded and injured members of Australian Defence Force, both currently serving and ex-members. Many soldiers have trouble adjusting back to civilian life, and being injured and ill makes it even more difficult. Mates4Mates are there for soldiers that need someone on their side.
Everyone who participated in the run had a great time and gave outstanding feedback.
Innerpulse Event Management have plenty of experience managing events of all different shapes and sizes. We believe that managing events is about more than just ensuring everything runs smoothly, it’s about creating incredible memories that last a lifetime. Everyone who took part in the Tour of Duty is sure to remember their achievement, and the money raised will go on to do a lot of good for the men and women of the armed forces, helping them to create some wonderful memories of their own.
